Google Maps 6.5 for Android adds new navigation menu, public transit options and more

Google Maps for Android update adds some changes that help make user experience even better. The first change includes a completely redesigned navigation menu for Android ICS 4.0 based devices. You may easily view recently searched destinations or entirely go out for a new one, which is now much easier.

Google has also introduced high-resolution map tiles for smartphones and tablets that support higher pixel density including the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy S II and more. For users who already have any of the aforesaid phones can enjoy crisp images, beyond images you would also find better zooming and panning capabilities, as well a less cluttered map than before.

Public transit options can now be prioritized, allowing users with an option to choose their preferred mode of commuting i.e. subway, bus, tubes etc. You also have an option to choose the kind of directions depending on the best route, fewer transfers or less walking. Public transit directions, schedules and updates are available across 475 cities worldwide.

Temple Run, the game that has over 45 million and counting downloads for iOS devices has finally arrived for Android. After hearing all the rumors about the game coming soon, it has made its way much before the anticipated date. Savor the fun with this addictive saga with crazy evil monkeys, coins and more. The game is free to download and can be easily grabbed from the Google Play Store. We feel that the game would continue to exhibit the same trend for user downloads or even much higher as the number of device running Android are much more. The game is compatible across devices running Android 2.1 or higher, which again makes its reach viral. So what are you waiting for? Instagram for Android on its way, pre-registration page up

Instagram, an app that has made instant photo sharing just a touch away and still continues to spread the smiles for Apple iOS users is finally making its way for Android. The app works great on the iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad, providing rich and intuitive features and sharing options across multiple social networks. We have seen constant development and evolution for the app over the time that include the introduction to the new Instagram interface design, #hastags, live filters, instant tilt shift, high-resolution images and more. A very effective medium for digitized photo-sharing revolution on the go, a hub where millions of photos are relished and seen each day. It would be exciting to see the kind of volume and thrill the platform would experience when it arrives Android, as the numbers of users on Android are twice more than the ones over iOS. Instagram has come up with a registration page, to update users on the latest tweaks and info for their upcoming treat to the Android arena. We don’t have any confirmation on when the application would be out, once you register all the updates drop straight away to your inbox. LG Optimus Vu now available in Korea

LG Optimus Vu, the smart and elegant competitor to the Samsung’s Galaxy Note has made its way to Korea. The handheld goes live on sale with SK Telecom and LG U+ networks across South Korea. The mobile giant eyes early adopters and new users with the opportunity to get a stylish protective case with an extra battery across both the carriers to the first 20K users.

Refreshing our thoughts on the LG Optimus Vu, it was one of the cool gizmos added to LG’s smartphone portfolio that were released prior to MWC 2012 while being actively showcased later at the grand event in Barcelona. We see some brilliant specs on the device that include a 5-inch IPS display, 1.5 GHz Dual-Core CPU, Android 2.3 Gingerbread (ICS 4.0 Upgradable), 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage, 8MP camera, capacitive stylus input, sleek and stylish design.

Gadget lovers in Korea can get their hands on with the smartphone at a price tag of 999,900 won (approx. US $890). We sill await news upon worldwide release and pricing.
