LG Electronics, a global giant in modern technology and mobile communications, has launched an innovative campaign by the name ‘Smartphone Idea Camp’. This campaign is a ‘consumers connect’ initiative which would be conducted online. During the campaign, LG would invite consumers to submit unique app, feature, concept, service, design, UI ideas that they desire in their phones. The best ideas would get incorporated in LG’s future smartphone line-up and also win prize value of Rs. 15, 00,000.

The 2 month long campaign, which kick-starts today encourages tech enthusiasts to share their innovative app feature concept, service, design, UI ideas on the Smartphone Idea Camp page.The contest would be open to all Indian residents, and the entries would be evaluated on the basis of imagination, creativity and utility.

The device was expected to preview at MWC 2012 although it has been earlier launched today. LG seems to be on a throttle revealing devices day on day just a week before MWC 2012, yesterday we had news on the Optimus Vu which is now further followed by the Optimus Tag LTE smartphone that makes its launch in Korea ending February this year.  The word “Tag” attached to the device exhibits NFC capable functionality implementing LG’s Tag+ stickers that allow switching profiles, enabling GPS, Bluetooth etc. For example: If you enter your workplace you may swipe your phone to enable silent profile, similarly to turn on navigation or GPS you may use the Tag+ sticker in your car to switch on the features enabled on to it. This seems to bring some good changes as we generally tend to forget stuff while we are on the run, with this new implementation it could be a lot easier to increase productivity and simplicity as these are user programmable and can be redone as many times as per your needs and moods. Sony has also brought a similar feature on to its selected Xperia handhelds that is also known as “Xperia Smart Tags” allowing NFC capable communication. The Optimus Tag LTE has a 4.3-inch IPS display, a 1.2GHz dual core processor, and the good old Android Gingerbread 2.3 to top it up.

Korean giant LG today announced the Optimus Vu smartphone featuring a 5-inch IPS display that has a 4:3 aspect ratio. The device runs on Android Gingerbread 2.3 and comes along with a stylus to flaunt. The phone plans to debut early March in the company’s homeland Korea with SK Telecom. There is no information yet on the worldwide release. LG promises to unveil more inputs about the Optimus Vu at MWC 2012 at Barcelona

LG has officially announced its first tablet with LTE support the Optimus Pad LTE. The Android based tablet flaunts an 8.9 inch 1280×768 “True HD” IPS display, 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 2MP front camera and an 8MP rear camera. The device has an in-built internal storage of 32GB while being accompanied with an SD card slot with up to 32GB support. LG has made sure to integrate valuable features like DLNA and HDMI to enhance the overall media sharing experience. The tablet would ship with a 6800 mAh battery running Android 3.2 Honeycomb. The company has not shared any news about upgrades to Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.

“With tablets generating five times more traffic than the average smartphone, it’s not a huge jump to assume that tablet users need and want faster connectivity,” – Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Mobile Communications Company.

Mobile manufacturer LG came with an official announcement that included the complete details of the upgrade roll out for Android ICS. The company stated that the upgrade process would be eligible for LG Smartphones introduced through 2011. This process would begin in mid 2012, starting with the second and third quarter followed by a worldwide release.

The models that are to be upgraded as part of the second quarter schedule would include the following models:

• LG Optimus LTE
• Prada phone by LG 3.0,
• LG Optimus 2X
• LG Optimus Sol
• LG my Touch Q
• LG Eclipse

The aforesaid upgrade would be followed by further upgrades for the remaining set of smartphones in the third quarter. These models include:

• LG Optimus 3D
• LG Optimus Black
• LG Optimus Big
• LG Optimus Q2
• LG Optimus E

LG promises the upgrades for ICS in a timely fashion although these depend on various factors including region and carrier specific requirements. The exact date of commencement is not yet revealed and would be declared on the LG Mobile Official Facebook Page prior to the roll out process.
