Google+ for Android gets updated. Lets you Hangout from the Messenger.

Google+ app for Android just got updated with umber cool additions. The company plans to make our Christmas even more enjoyable by providing Hangouts straight out of the Messenger feature. Google also promises to update the iOS app very soon with the same additions. To use the aforesaid feature users need Android 2.3(Gingerbread or higher) and would also need a front facing camera to go on a face-to-face call. The app update also includes major bug fixes and enhancements including a new design layout for viewing photo albums, name based search and suggestion while starting a new messenger conversation, brand new icons to show images uploaded via Instant Upload, and the ability to leave individual one-on-one conversations. I tried to click some screenshots for the new G+ app but was not able to succeed as the front camera of my neo v went on standby while the screen got captured. I’ve still included some standard ones that I saw.

Google bar’s updated look : Whats New ?

Google Bar’s Updated look has been finally integrated across major Google services, I saw Google India’s website showcasing it today. Google’s Official Blog had mentioned earlier that the overall revamp of design started 6 months back with the key criteria to enhance user experience by providing a simple and easy interface for users across its services. The new design includes changes to the top bar, which is available across all Google products. The left corner comprises of the Google Logo with a drop-down menu which is displayed when user hovers the mouse over the area, a centralized search box in the center allowing users to search specific to the Google service being used i.e. Google Maps, You Tube, Google + Etc. and the right corner with options for the users to see notifications on Google Plus, Share Options and user account management.

New Look:

New Look With Drop Down Menu

Even if users have not signed-in they still may use all services within the Google home page, the menu is automatically displayed once the page loads. To access all items users can click on “More”.

Google Homepage New Look

The upper right corner consists of notification icons that display recent activity on your Google Plus account that displays people who have added you to their circles, stream activity and posts directly shared. To view these notifications you can simply click on the red box, it would be gray if you don’t have any notifications.

Another interesting feature is the share box, the best part about this feature is that it is not limited within Google Plus, it can be accessed across all Google services allowing the user with wider options to share and collaborate, one can choose the circles they would like to share with and have an option to add links, photos, videos and location.

The last option on the right is  user account management which allows users to sign-out, switch or manage Google accounts by clicking on the picture and selecting the intended option.

Foursquare adds Save to Foursquare and Follow Buttons

Foursquare introduced two new features to its existing application allowing online Publishers and Webmasters to integrate Foursquare into their websites. The  “Save to Foursquare” feature allows users to a read a review or an article on a website and save it to the Foursquare To-Do List. The saved information is available for the user based on their Check-in Location or if they are within a particular radius (if Foursquare’s Radar Feature is enabled). The feature has been originally been derived from the company’s previous implementation “Add to Foursquare” launched back in 2010, but didn’t seem to be a successful solution. The next feature called “Follow” allows users to subscribe to any website by pressing the button and getting regular updates to their favorite stuff.

Publishers that have already implemented the features include Time Out New York, Time Out Chicago, CBS Local Digital Media, New York Magazine, Eater.com and Askmen.com

If you are a vivid Foursquare user and do not find the above mentioned features, you can use the Foursquare Bookmarklet which allows seamless integration between your web browser and Foursquare allowing users bookmark any thing on the browser and access it on the application. You can add the same to your web browser via: https://foursquare.com/about/savetofoursquare
