Sony’s first Android ICS Smartphone: Xperia neo L debuts in China

Sony’s first Android ICS Smartphone: Xperia neo L debuts in China

Today, Sony Mobile announced the Xperia neo L smartphone in China, the company’s first smartphone that would ship with Android ICS pre-installed on to it. The Xperia neo L is a successor to the Xperia neo and neo V smartphones that were introduced last year. The handset does not seem to carry major changes on the hardware front in comparison to its predecessors, it seems that the processor and other related specs remain more or less the same. The Xperia neo L sports a 4-inch FWVGA Display (854×480 pixels), 1GHz Single-Core Qualcomm processor, 1GB internal storage with Micro SD card support up to 32GB, 512MB RAM, 5MP camera with LED Flash (supports HD Video recording up to 720p), VGA front facing camera, 1500 mAh battery, and the key ingredient to the mix is Android Ice Cream Sandwich that comes pre-loaded.

The exact date for the product release or its exact availability is yet to be revealed.  We still speculate whether the handset would only be available to markets wide China or would be released globally.

We also saw some great Android handsets that were introduced earlier this year by Sony that include the Xperia P, Xperia U, and Xperia Sola. All devices boast great specs, but still await an upgrade to Android ICS, which should hopefully come through by the end of this year.

Samsung Galaxy Note gets an update, fixes bugs with video editor app

Samsung Galaxy Note gets an update, fixes bugs with video editor app

The International edition of the Samsung Galaxy Note gets a firmware update pushed over-the-air. The update is still based on the Android Gingerbread 2.3.6 OS. The new firmware brings on improvements packed into action, with the most prominent bug fix for the video editor app where certain issues were noticed while working on video clips with lower frame rates as well the ones that had the “fade” effect in use, causing the video to blur and render unstable output upon playback.  Besides the video editor app, the mobile radio on the device also gets updated to version XXLB2 with the software version being updated to XXLC1, all summing up to total size of 40MB.

Samsung Galaxy Note is what I term as a “Tab-Phone” as it packs in all the glamorous looks, Android power and gives a proves to be a decent competitor the  Apple iPhone. The Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 update for the Samsung Note was supposed to be due by end of March this year, but with rumors popping in each day it might be delayed for the next quarter. Hopefully we still have few days left in this month and I would surely like to see the ICS 4.0 flavor of Android to be showcased soon on the smartphone. The availability for the current update might vary upon your current region as well as carrier limitations.

Samsung Galaxy S II gets a taste of Android ICS in Europe and Korea

Samsung Galaxy S II gets a taste of Android ICS in Europe and Korea

Samsung Galaxy S II owners in Europe including Poland, Hungary, Sweden and Korea get Android Ice Cream Sandwich update being pushed to their devices via OTA starting today. The mobile giant assures the update to release very soon among other regions and markets steadily. Android ICS is one software improvement that most users want to try fumble around with, while adding new features and new apps to their smartphones. The company promises ICS updates to be made available soon for the Galaxy Tab 10.1, Galaxy Tab 8.9, Galaxy Note, and Galaxy S II LTE.

Clarity on carrier specific releases worldwide for ICS update are among things that we can’t really predict too soon as it completely depends upon specifications and presets by wireless companies, based on which the update would be made available or scheduled across lined up regions. We still wait on more info on the same and would keep you posted on the latest buzz.
