Evernote for Android update adds speech-to-text and new widgets

Evernote is back again with an update for its Android App, it is mainly targeted or is applicable to users that have Android ICS 4.0 (i.e. Ice Cream Sandwich) running on their devices. The update comprises of two separate transitions that include the Speech-to-Text functionality for the application, while the latter part consists of new widgets that are available in three sizes and can be downloaded separately via the Google Play Store.

The Speech-to-Text function is a very handy feature for people on the go, users benefit with both the audio being converted into text as well as the original audio note being saved to the original file. The feature also comes along with a pre-requisite of being connected to the Internet as it uses Google Android’s transcription service.

The Evernote Widget App adds some great features that make it mobile and handy. The widget app introduces new theme design, 1×1 widgets, new icon sets, and more. Users have an option to customize the widget area including its colors, buttons that appear, and the type of notes that would be shown in the large widget i.e. last updates, last viewed, specific notes etc.  The 1×1 widgets are easy to place and can be used for the most frequently used actions to save time on repetitive takes. You may also like to go for a “Quick Snapshot” by pressing the camera icon with the thunderbolt to start the camera, snap a pic, save it, and you’re done.

Instagram for Android on its way, pre-registration page up

Instagram, an app that has made instant photo sharing just a touch away and still continues to spread the smiles for Apple iOS users is finally making its way for Android. The app works great on the iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad, providing rich and intuitive features and sharing options across multiple social networks. We have seen constant development and evolution for the app over the time that include the introduction to the new Instagram interface design, #hastags, live filters, instant tilt shift, high-resolution images and more. A very effective medium for digitized photo-sharing revolution on the go, a hub where millions of photos are relished and seen each day. It would be exciting to see the kind of volume and thrill the platform would experience when it arrives Android, as the numbers of users on Android are twice more than the ones over iOS. Instagram has come up with a registration page, to update users on the latest tweaks and info for their upcoming treat to the Android arena. We don’t have any confirmation on when the application would be out, once you register all the updates drop straight away to your inbox.  You won’t have to go through a long sign-up page or anything of that type, just enter your email and you’re done.

Google Maps for Android updated, simplifies navigation menu

Source : (Droid-Life)

Google Maps for Android gets updated to version 6.4.0, adding simplified and better design to Google Navigation options menu for devices currently running Android ICS 4.0. Google has made an endeavor to remove the old geeky vertical menu, which used to pop out while we used to press the menu button, while bringing a new grid based approach. Google Maps is one app that most of us would like to use either for navigation, address resolution, search on the go, or even just for fun. Recently we saw Google introducing Indoor Maps that even make our experience more intuitive and interactive, the feature is still limited to US and a few more regions, I hope that I arrives globally soon as it would involve new location based action, curiosity and joy to explore more stuff. I even await for an ICS update for my Sony neo v that would allow me to checkout ICS based apps more often, For readers who still haven’t had a hands on the brilliant app can download the same from the Google Play store using this link.
