Google Docs for Android adds offline access and better support for tablets

Google Docs users can benefit with offline file access support on their Android based smartphones and tablets. The update also features certain tweaks for tablets users to make the app experience better and smoother.

 Files can be made offline while over an Internet connection or even when working on a file. The app supports auto sync while connected to a Wi-Fi network with the option to Star and rename files offline.

You can a make a file available offline in several ways by either using the menu button or keeping the item pressed for 2-3 seconds and press the “Make Available Offline” option. The same can also be done using the file’s preview pane and selecting the checkbox right next to “Available Offline”.

For people who are on the rush or are sharing files within an organization can also push updates manually by pressing the “Update” while the file is open to sync changes manually online.

Google Docs is an online productivity suite that is free and can be downloaded from Android Market.

Sony Ericsson Bridge for Mac 2.0 to bring Software Update Support

Sony Xperia users have a reason to celebrate, as ‘Sony Ericsson Bridge for Mac 2.0’ would allow users with SW Update functionality on a Macintosh. Users who were earlier using Windows Software or PC Companion to update their device can also update it using this utility. The app would serve great convenience as users would not have to switch systems to update their smartphones.

Bridge for Mac is a simple and easy to use application for adding and synching new media including Movies, Music, TV Shows, Images and Playlists using iTunes. It also support direct transfer via mass storage and iPhoto.

For users who are new and have not yet experienced the app may download it using this link. The app requires Mac OS 10.5 or higher.

Lenovo ThinkPad and IdeaPad tablets to get Android ICS 4.0 update by Q2

Lenovo recently announced its plans to release the Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 update for its ThinkPad and IdeaPad tablets. The update is expected to arrive by Q2. However the company as not given any specific date for the release. The tablets would showcase better UI and added capabilities with ICS 4.0 that act as  key enhancements considering the pre-installed Android Honeycomb 3.1 OS.

Motorola XOOM Wi-Fi and Asus Transformer Prime were among the early implementers to provide Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 to its users.

Samsung adds Galaxy S Advance to its portfolio

It has been raining Samsung Smartphones with the Korean manufacturer continuing to add loads of Android based devices to its portfolio. Samsung recently showcased the Galaxy S Advance which is yet another addition to the Galaxy series. The phone seems to fit in between the Galaxy S and the Galaxy S II with minor changes to the hardware specifications. The key upgrades include a 1 GHz dual core processor with added memory (RAM) to the device.  The phone also includes HSPDA (3G) connectivity with up speeds to 14.4Mbit/s.
