Google Currents the much awaited and rumored magazine style application that is considered to be a sound competitor to existing apps like Flipboard, Zite Etc. is finally in. The application has a vivid design allowing users to access their favorite blogs, RSS Feeds, websites and more at the flick of a finger right across their handheld or tablet device. The application is available across both Android and iOS platform.

An added advantage that lies for the user is allowing support for offline reading and synchronization with the Google Account. The application also has a divided layout with images of the most popular posts on the top that one can scroll and tap to access or view a particular post and more new content lying beneath in clean and simple way. During the initial installation the application can take a while to load and render images as some preloaded subscriptions are initiated. I would prefer users to use a Wi-Fi connection to install the app as they can get a better usage experience. If you tend to install the application on a 2G/3G connection you will not have an awesome experience as we see a lag while the application initiates and loads.

The subscription model also has varied options including the most trending subscriptions or one can choose via categories that have been defined. In order to support offline access enable sync and sync images for offline use option to enable image visibility while off the hook. The app allows you the share the latest stuff that you read across Facebook, Google +, Email Etc., also the app boasts the patented Google Voice Search. Google Currents is available in the Android Market and App Store for iOS users now available for use within US.

I understand that few of us will crave to go ahead and use the application, which also included me. I have managed to download the application on to my Sony Ericsson neo v and took all screenshots possible to share with each one of you. A trick that I also found online about how to install the application on a non-US based Android device is by downloading a tweaked APK that will start downloading the app and you can install it to your device. Please use this installer package at your own risk, it worked for me. To install the application your will also have to enable installation from unknown sources located under manage applications option within the settings tab of your Android device. I must say this app is a great way to explore you reading buds. Initially I installed the app and my add all my favorite tech blogs, music stuff and feeds that I read. The Google reader integration is again a great way to pull your feeds at a stretch and be in touch with the buzz all around. Try the application and do share your reviews with us. Android Market achieves a milestone of 10 billion downloads

The most widely used smartphone platform The Android OS officially embarked a milestone by achieving 10 billion downloads during the past weekend. Celebrating great success Google also announced top applications at an amazing price of 10 cents, a joint effort with application developers that are a key success to the platform’s growth. The Android crave is set to grow even high with more than 5.5 million devices being activated daily, making sure that mobile applications are the next big thing for people as a key metric to entertainment, productivity and more. The next 10 billion app downloads are not far away with more developers, more users and more ideas to implement. New Blackberry App World 3.1 arrives Blackberry BETA Zone

The Blackberry App World 3.1.0.40 update helps users to resolve issues with their BlackBerry ID’s, for users still facing the same issue can download the application from the Beta Zone to get an immediate fix. The Blackberry App World 3.1.0.38 released earlier during the day faced major issues with users having trouble accessing the app world.

The Blackberry App World 3.1 will allow users to try some latest additions that include Gifting and Begging apps i.e. allowing users to pay for an application that you like or gift an application to your family and friends. The update also takes care of content sensitivity by allowing developers and content publishers to rate their Content Maturity level. Users also have an option to set their desired rating for the content according one’s personal discretion. The latest version allows application usage and functionality while one has only a Wi-Fi connection. The application will now have a better language support, which includes Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean, Thai, Indonesian, Vietnamese, and Dutch.

1^st December 2011 Bharti Airtel officially announced free Twitter access for all its users across India. Airtel users will now enjoy free access on to Twitter via web browsers i.e. mobile.twitter.com or using the Twitter short code service via SMS. The users get entitled to this service for free till 1^st March 2012. The free service helps enabling people who are new to Mobile Internet and Social Web to interact by posting tweets and subscribing to their favorite celebrities, friends etc. and be a part of the latest news and interaction. Twitter itself is a very huge network consisting of more than 100 million users and a tweet every second about something new, it’s a micro blogging interface that helps users to share thoughts in 140 characters. If you are an Airtel user, you can activate free Twitter access in by following these simple steps.

Twitter Mobile Website: mobile.twitter.com, you need not activate GPRS to get access to this website, just open it in your phone browser and follow the simple registration steps.
Create a new account on Twitter By SMS: SMS ‘START’ to 53000, upon receiving reply – SMS ‘SIGNUP’ to 53000. Next, type a username (unique and less than 15 characters) and send that to 53000. Once Twitter approves your username, you will get a confirmation message, prompting you to SMS a chosen password to 53000. On completion of this process, your Twitter account will be created. Sign up is only required if a user wants to tweet.
To Follow a specific users just type ‘ Follow Username’ and send it to 53000.
